How to Vote in Victoria

Make your voice count. Here's everything you need to know to vote in the October 2026 Victoria City Council election.

Election Day: Saturday, October 17, 2026

Victoria Election 2026 postcards will be mail-dropped to homes the week of September 14–18, followed by the City Connect newsletter the week of September 21–25.


When and Where to Vote

Advance Voting

  • Victoria Conference Centre

    October 7, 13, 14 and 15 — 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day.

  • University of Victoria

    October 14 — tentatively 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (to be confirmed by the City).

Mail-in Voting

  • Pick up your ballot at City Hall

    Ballots available after September 17.

  • Have a ballot mailed to you

    Register your name and address after September 17 online at victoria.ca/city-government/elections, email legislativeservices@victoria.ca, or call 250-361-0571.

    Ballots must be returned to the City by October 17.

Election Day — Saturday, October 17

Polling Locations

On Election Day, you may vote at any one of 12 voting places across Victoria. Exact locations will be confirmed by the City by September 7 — check back closer to the date.

Victoria's neighbourhoods and voting areas are shown on the City's district map. Use it to confirm your neighbourhood and find your nearest polling station once Election Day locations are announced.

Voting Tips

  • What to bring

    Bring government-issued photo ID showing your name and Victoria address. A BC Driver's Licence or BC ID Card is ideal.

  • Who can vote

    You are eligible to vote in the Victoria City Council election if you are a Canadian citizen, 18+ years old, and a resident or property owner in Victoria for at least 30 days before the election.
